our philosophy
wildkind isn’t your typical run coaching.
this is personal for us
We’ve lived and trained through changing life circumstances. We’ve also learned lessons the hard way of what happens when life and training aren’t appropriately balanced. Our mistakes have given us the wisdom to know that not every season requires “pushing through it.”
Looking back, we wished we had more guidance and support to know when to make the training moves and when to pull back. That’s why it’s so personal.
We believe that every runner deserves the chance to have the guidance we didn’t. With the clinical expertise we have now, this gives us even more insight into how to better navigate training through all of life’s circumstances.
wildkind is built to be what we needed
As we navigated the changes that have come in life, we needed guidance that worked with those changes. Our goals were important, but they needed to be balanced with our changing lives. In retrospect, that lead us to three guiding principles when it comes to our coaching:
training and life
should be balanced
Ignoring the stress, demands, and life outside of training is a fast track to burnout. We’ve learned this the hard way and want to prevent the same mistake for you.
health takes priority
over performance
You can’t successfully show up for training and events unless you’ve been healthy enough to get there. This goes for both physical and mental health.
longevity matters more
than short-term PRs
Improvements don’t happen overnight. Being able to keep showing up session after session is what’s going to lead to true change.
how we approach working with you
When it comes to working with us, we’ll handle the little things like programming, keeping up to date on the science of training, keeping an eye on how you’re progressing, and looking ahead to make sure we’re on track.
From your perspective, the things you’ll notice are pretty simple and what we would want ourselves, including:
being your biggest cheerleader, but also being real with you when we need to be.
doing everything we can to help you chase your goals.
accepting all paces, no matter how fast or slow.
touching base with you to ensure you feel good about where you’re at and where things are heading.
making sure you enjoy the process! This should bring you joy, not take it from you.
